FOLLOW THE LORD WITHOUT RESERVATION

“If only My Church would follow Me without reservation, I would make her a light to the nations!” (Inner word).

As in yesterday’s meditation, today we hear again a lament from our Heavenly Father. On this occasion, His longing is not so much that His children achieve personal happiness, but that the Church fulfill her mission, so that all peoples may receive the proclamation of the Good News through her.

It hurts to hear this lament from our Father, especially when we recognize how much the light of the Church has been obscured. She is increasingly adapting to this world, so that the salt becomes bland (Mt 5:13), people are deprived of the light that should illuminate them, and the sheep are no longer led to green pastures or protected from wolves. A sad and deplorable situation!

But how would our Father like to find the Church?

Without a doubt, He wants to see reflected in her the face of His Son and the docility of the Virgin Mary in following all His ways.

Certainly, He wants to find the Church vigilant, not entangled in the affairs of this world, and reflecting the purity of Mary.

The Father wants to see the Church as Teacher of the nations, fulfilling the mission that He Himself entrusted to His Son and extended to all His own.

Above all, He wants to find the Church working with Him for the salvation of souls and going out in search of those who still hope to find in other religions what they can only find in the Savior of humanity.

We must follow the Lord without reservation! This is the exhortation that our Father addresses to us. Then the Church will be able to be (once again) the light of the nations. The beauty of truth and charity will attract people to return home. And then they will say: “How good it is to be here! Here God dwells among men!”
