THE DESIGNS OF GOD

254th Meditation

“How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!” (Rom 11:33b).

How often do we understand only later what our Father has done and permitted for our good!

Indeed, God’s ways are not simply laid out before our eyes like an open book, in which we can read everything in detail and find it meticulously traced out. However, there is a “divine plan” for each of us. Read More

GOD HAS LOVED US FROM ALL TIME

253rd Meditation

“You knew me through and through, my being held no secrets from you, when I was being formed in secret, textured in the depths of the earth” (Ps 138:15).

When we were marked with the cross of ashes, we heard the words: “Remember, you are dust, and unto dust you shall return” (cf. Gen 3:19). These are words that place us in our full creaturehood, for from God we come and to Him we return. Our body will be transformed for eternal life. This is another of the works of our loving Father that we still await, for “this mortal nature must put on immortality” (cft.1 Cor 15:54). Read More

THE FATHER CALLS US TO CONVERSION

251st Meditation

Our Father calls us to return home….

Conversion means to open ourselves to God’s love and goodness, to turn away from wrong or useless ways, to turn our hearts to the Lord.

God’s heart is open to us! He never closes it and is always ready to welcome us when we seek Him. A single word from a sincere heart, a single “You are my Father”, has the power to deliver us from eternal damnation. Read More

TRUE FRIENDS

248th Meditation

“They [the holy angels] will be your most faithful friends and will assist you in everything” (Inner Word).

Our Father not only accompanies us Himself and dwells in us, but He also sends His holy angels so that we may have fellowship with them. He wants them to be our companions and to be united with us in His love. We are to have true friendship with them and delight in these powerful helpers.

I, THE LORD, SEARCH THE HEART

247th Meditation

“The heart is more devious than any other thing, and is depraved; who can pierce its secrets?

I, the Lord, search the heart and test the mind” (Jer 17:9-10).

Yesterday we reflected on the heart that, after being tested, has proved its faithfulness to God, as was the case with the Prophet Jeremiah. Today, however, we are reminded of the deplorable state of our heart, of which the Lord also warns us in the Gospel (cf. Mt 15:19). For a heart to stand the test, it first needs to undergo purification, because often it is not even aware of its own evil. Read More

THE LOVE OF JESUS FOR HIS FATHER

245th Meditation

“The world must recognise that I love the Father and that I act just as the Father commanded” (Jn 14:31).

In these words, the Lord expresses the great love of his Heart: it is His Heavenly Father.

Perhaps we tend to be more aware of Jesus’ love for us people, and with good reason we say that we can never thank Him enough for what He has done for our salvation. Read More
