BEGIN EACH DAY ANEW

“Throughout our lives we must work, struggle and begin each day anew” (St. Francis de Sales).

Our goal is clear. It is plainly stated in Sacred Scripture and proclaimed by the Church. We come from the Father and we will return to Him in eternity if we listen to Him and follow His commandments in this life.

The way there becomes a trial and a task for us, day by day, hour by hour. The more we awaken in our spiritual life, the more we will understand that we are living in the “kairos”. This means that God’s grace is always present to help us fulfill the task entrusted to us.

With his advice, St. Francis de Sales wants to equip us for this journey. Indeed, life is full of challenges and struggles that will continue until the end, even if, with time, we learn to face them with more serenity and composure.

Begin each day anew!

This does not mean that we have to start each new day by making up for what we have wasted in the past, although this possibility is also offered to us by our Father so that we do not become discouraged.

Rather, it means that each day brings its own task, its own opportunities, its own struggles, its own challenges… To face them we need courage and trust. If we open our ears and begin to see with our eyes, we will see that on this very day we are allowed to cooperate in the plan of salvation.

Since our Father’s love is infinite, we can go out every day in search of Him and let ourselves be found by Him. When we wake up, His love is already there and accompanies us when we close our eyes at the end of the day. Every day He wants to fill us more deeply. Every day anew…
