“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Mt 18:19-20).
Jesus invites us to live in true unity with Him. He Himself is the foundation of this unity, because our Father has made Him the link between all humanity.
When we turn to the Father in this unity with Jesus, nothing can stand in the way of God granting us whatever we ask of Him.
Has anyone ever heard of the Father refusing a request to His beloved Son? Has anyone ever heard of the Son making a request that would displease the Heavenly Father? Impossible!
Therefore, when we gather in the Name of Jesus and address our petitions to the Father, we are praying to Him with Jesus. Then the Son of God intercedes for us, and all our prayers ascend like a sweet and heavenly fragrance to the Throne of the Father and are heard.
And what can we ask for? Great things!
Our Father loves it when we think big and turn to Him with confidence. Without being presumptuous, we should present our requests to God even beyond our personal sphere.
When we ask in the Name of Jesus, the Holy Spirit will help us to understand the deepest intentions of the Lord’s Heart and to unite ourselves to them. In this way, His intentions become our intentions and ours become His. The Lord’s prayer becomes our prayer, and our prayer becomes His prayer.
