“Nothing is impossible for me, and when I find an open heart, I want to give it everything” (Inner Word).
For our Father it is a great treasure to find an open heart. To this person He can grant everything, not withholding anything of what He has arranged for them in His love. An open heart is a great joy for Him.
We have certainly experienced this also on the human level, when we meet someone who has an open heart towards us. How easy it is to establish a fruitful communion with such a person!
This counts all the more for our Father, who knows our heart in all its depths. Therefore, it becomes all the more important that we pray to Him for a new heart, if only to give our Father the joy of dwelling in a pure heart.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Ps 51:10).
This is the most beautiful thing we can offer to our Heavenly Father. It will probably take us some time to assimilate all that God grants us, but He is patient with us.
Day by day His Spirit will enlarge the heart that He finds open. Whenever we suffer under the narrowness of our heart, we can ask the Lord with the psalmist: “In my distress you have set me at large; take pity on me and hear my prayer!” (Ps 4:1).
An open heart is also a joy for other people, because it is a heart full of love, permeated by the spiritual warmth of God, which becomes a delight for our neighbor.
Why do we not consciously give our heart to the Heavenly Father, offering it to Him again and again, so that it becomes an open heart in which He can pour all His love?
