239th Meditation
“Remain in my guidance, and the miracle of my love will accompany you and become palpable to other people” (Inner Word).
Our Father not only wants to keep us with Himself and delight us with His love, but He also wants to make us messengers of His love. If we reciprocate His love and know that we are sheltered by it, this will happen.
Is there anything more important for people than to know that God loves them? Are not the many troubles they experience the consequence of not knowing this love, or of having abandoned it?
The Father offers us His guidance, and it is up to us to learn to discover it better in our lives. Then we will realise that the Lord has a plan for each day. If we follow it, our life will bear much fruit.
It is often a very subtle guidance, but day by day we will learn to perceive it better, if we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. He does not shout or make noise. On the contrary, He loves it when we go into ourselves and try to know Him more and more.
It is good to stop from time to time and ask Him if what we are doing or thinking is to His liking. We can also ask Him to always correct us. Certainly our divine Friend, who is so attentive, would also do this on His own initiative; but it turns out that we are not always ready to listen. Instead, if we explicitly ask Him to do so, we show our willingness to accept and follow His guidance. In this way, we make it easier for our divine Friend to exert His influence on us and to transform us.
Since the Holy Spirit is the love between the Father and the Son, under His daily guidance love will grow in us and accompany us always. And if our words and deeds are “seasoned with love”, people will savour it and turn more easily to our Heavenly Father.
