A SORROW FOR ALL

“It is terrible if one person does not convert. It is a sorrow for all of us” (Interior Word).

The call to conversion permeates Sacred Scripture from beginning to end, and its exhortation lasts until the end of time. Our Father is not indifferent to whether man lives according to his destiny or loses his way. Perhaps we humans have already become somewhat accustomed to the fact that the world is so bad and wrongly console ourselves with the thought that it has always been so. But do we also think about what it means to our Father when we offend Him with sin and indifference?

Certainly, our Father’s love for us is immeasurable, as He testifies to us in an incomparable way through His Son. But this does not mean that the transgressions of human beings do not cause deep sorrow in Heaven. Without detracting from the bliss to be enjoyed in eternity, it is a sorrow of love to see human beings, created in the image and likeness of God, lose their beauty and become deformed in the image of the fallen creation.

Lucifer was a magnificent angel. And what is he today? A specter, a ghostly shadow of himself.

And what of man? He still has the possibility of conversion. The doors are still open. Today he still has time to listen to the voice of God and be converted. Today he still has time to be healed of the sin that disfigures him, because our Father is able to make his disfigured face shine again. Today he still has time to abandon the works of darkness (Rom 13:12) and become a messenger of light.

All this can happen if he repents. Then there will be great joy in heaven! But if he does not repent, the angels will mourn for him and the saints will weep, for it is terrible that the hour of grace should pass without men taking advantage of it. A sorrow for all!
