“Thou lovest truth in the heart; then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom” (Ps 51:6).
A sincere heart, who can resist it? Certainly not our Father, who has established His dwelling in such a heart and gives it a deep understanding of His love.
Our heart is settled in the truth when it is completely centred on our Father, when we do not allow the slightest shadow to come between Him and us. Then we try to put aside everything that obscures our heart and ask the Lord to descend into its depths and search it, for who knows his own heart, who could be capable of a full knowledge of himself?
“Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!” – Jesus says of Nathanael (Jn 1:47). We could say that he is a man with a sincere heart, who turns away from everything that could separate him from the truth.
He who lives in the truth is repelled by all forms of falsehood and lies, because these are like a spider’s web in which the spirits of evil settle to exert their influence, deforming people and keeping them bound in grey areas.
Let us look at our Church, the Spouse of Christ, how does the Lord want to find her? Without blemish, rooted in the truth, faithful and devoted to the will of the Father. If her interior, her heart, is sincere, our Father will give her wisdom and she will flourish. On the other hand, if she adapts herself to the spirit of the world, she will be confused and desolate.
Jesus and Mary offer us their hearts as a refuge. In this way, our own hearts can be imbued with their love and remove all shadows, so that our Father may make us grow in the knowledge of the truth and in love.
