“What do I desire to achieve with this work of love, if not to find hearts able to understand Me?” (“Father’s message to Sister Eugenia Ravasio”).
Understanding our Heavenly Father is a great offer of love that He makes to us. At the same time, it gives us a touching glimpse into His heart and His innermost desire.
“God is infinitely perfect and blessed in Himself” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 1). Therefore, the desire to find hearts that understand Him does not come from lack, but rather from the pure goodness with which our Father wants to make man share in His fullness.
So here we find the pure goodness of God, who seeks our hearts to communicate with us, because He wants us to understand Him as He really is. Let us pause for a moment.
Is this not the great love we have always longed for? Do we not see here the great love story that sustains our existence? Is this not the offer of a love that has always existed, that seeks us endlessly and that is never extinguished?
What grace! A loving God, who is our Father and Saviour, wants to enter into intimate communion with us, to entrust us with His inmost being, to allow us to understand His nature, in whose image we have been created.
What does it mean for us to know the innermost desires of our Father, which are always good and perfect? It means that we awaken to this great love which transforms our whole life. We come to know God from within, whom we will see face to face in eternity. His great love becomes more and more tangible to us and shapes us more and more each day, beginning in this life and ending in eternity.
And our Father? He rejoices greatly to have found a heart that understands Him.
