234th Meditation
“If you come to know Me, you will love Me and My beloved Son more than you do now” (Message of the Father to Sr. Eugenia Ravasio).
Certainly all of us want to love our Lord Jesus Christ more than we do now. At Christmas we have said to the Child Jesus what is expressed in a beautiful German carol: “My heart I want to offer you; and all that I have, give you”.
Day after day, we are invited to grow in love for our Saviour and for people.
Our Heavenly Father shows us how to increase our love: If we come to know Him more deeply, then He will make us partakers of His own love for His Son. This love is immeasurable and perfect, because it is divine.
Therefore, by loving our Father and being receptive to His love, we come to know another degree of love. It becomes more supernatural, and so our capacity to love increases.
In a sense, we are allowed to look at Jesus with the eyes of the Father. We see and internalise how He is well pleased with His Son. All the works that Jesus did out of love for the Father and for us humans begin to speak to us in a different way when we look at them from the perspective of the Father’s love for His Son. In this way, our love for the Lord can grow more and more.
By responding to our Father’s love, we gain everything. If God dwells in our heart and penetrates it to its depths, divine life can begin to unfold within us. This means that we become “vessels of His love”. Then we will love all that God loves and, moreover, we will learn to love not only in a human way, but in a divine way.
