Saved by grace

Eph 2:1-10

Bretheren: he made you alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. Among these we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. Read More

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD TO THE GLORY OF THE FATHER

“Let every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil 2:11).

How it would glorify our Father if all humanity, together with those in heaven and under the earth, would bow their knees at the name of Jesus (cf. Phil 2:10)! Mankind would be freed from darkness and our Father would be able to restore all things to the order He has established for us and which corresponds to His infinite truth. Read More

Learning to serve

Mk 10:42-45

Jesus called the disciples to him and said to them, “You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all.  For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  Read More

Mt 28:16-20

Gospel for the memorial of St. John of Brebeuf and companions

Ps 145(144):10-11,12-13ab,17-18

All your creatures shall thank you, Yahweh, and your faithful shall bless you. They shall speak of the glory of your kingship and tell of your might, making known your mighty deeds to the children of Adam, the glory and majesty of your kingship. Your kingship is a kingship for ever, your reign lasts from age to age. Yahweh is trustworthy in all his words, and upright in all his deeds. Upright in all that he does, Yahweh acts only in faithful love. He is close to all who call upon him, all who call on him from the heart.

Models in faith

Phil 3:17–4:1

Brothers, be united in imitating me. Keep your eyes fixed on those who act according to the example you have from me. For there are so many people of whom I have often warned you, and now I warn you again with tears in my eyes, who behave like the enemies of Christ’s cross. They are destined to be lost; their god is the stomach; they glory in what they should think shameful, since their minds are set on earthly things. But our homeland is in heaven and it is from there that we are expecting a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transfigure the wretched body of ours into the mould of his glorious body, through the working of the power which he has, even to bring all things under his mastery. So then, my brothers and dear friends whom I miss so much, my joy and my crown, hold firm in the Lord, dear friends. Read More
