“So long as a strong man fully armed guards his own home, his goods are undisturbed” (Lk 11:21).

The gift of fortitude is responsible for strengthening the soul to be ever more courageous in the service of the Lord. It gives us the strength to follow the motions and impulses of the Holy Spirit, to accept everything and to want everything that God wants. Read More

TO CONQUER SOULS BY LOVE

348th Meditation

We are called to bring to people the message that God loves them infinitely, and to show them the ways which the Heavenly Father has chosen to give them the certainty of this love.

It pleases God to involve us in this noble task, thus making us His co-workers.

Who would not like to tell about a sovereign who truly deserves this name; a sovereign who is at the same time father, brother and friend to us; a sovereign who does not need to be idealised ….; a king who loves? Read More

 THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

347th Meditation

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” (Ps 23:1).

In order to make Himself understood, our Lord speaks to us with comparisons that we know from our human life. The image of the Good Shepherd who, in his vigilant attitude, does not lose sight of the flock entrusted to him, wants to convey to us how the Lord watches over His own.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit (2/7): THE GIFT OF PIETY

“The Spirit himself joins with our spirit to bear witness that we are children of God.” (Rom 8:16)

The gift of piety leads us to adhere to God with filial love, not wanting to offend Him in any way.

MY LIGHT DRIVES AWAY ALL DARKNESS

346th Meditation

“My light drives away all darkness, to the point that it pains you to have had even the slightest wrong thought” (Interior Word).

God is light and there is no shadow in Him (1 Jn 1:5). Our Father is love (1 Jn 4:8b). When love is poured into our hearts and we allow ourselves to be moved by it, nothing can stand in the way of this love. This is how the purification of the heart takes place. Read More

The gifts of the Holy Spirit (1/7): THE GIFT OF FEAR OF THE LORD

Today, on the Feast of Pentecost, we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit.

What an extraordinary change we see in the apostles! They, who were faint-hearted and fearful, become, thanks to the presence of the Holy Spirit, powerful messengers of God’s love; and they fearlessly proclaim the Gospel. The great miracle that each of the listeners – coming from the most diverse corners of the world – could understand the message of the apostles in their own language (cf. Acts 2:6) was a sign for the future. It was as if for a moment the confusion of tongues had been abolished, so that when the apostles proclaimed the wonders of God, all people could understand them. WITH MY GOD I CAN SCALE ANY WALL

345th Meditation

“With you I storm the rampart,

with my God I can scale any wall” (Ps 18:29).

Our Father gives us the courage to do great things with Him. Not infrequently “hedges and walls” are erected on the path of following the Lord, which want to discourage us: obstacles that seem insurmountable, one difficulty after another, setbacks and perhaps even concrete enmities. Read More
