Love to God and love to the neighbor

The father speaks to his children, Part 24

The cultivation and growth of love of God is so primary that we know of contemplative monasteries in the Holy Church which, in seclusion, serve God.

The great theme that runs through the Father’s message is the love of God in two ways. The love of the heavenly Father for us and our love for him.

This theme is particularly important today, even if in the Church it is not uncommon for a primacy of charity and the improvement of this world to come to the fore, and for the cultivation of love for God to be equated with it or even put on the back. There is a kind of change of perspective and man instead of God moves into the centre of attention. Read More

The right relationship with God

The father speaks to his children, Part 23

It is not enough for Me to have shown you My love; I also want to open up My Heart to you, whence a refreshing spring will issue and where all men will quench their thirst.

In the last meditation we reflected on the source and the ocean of love that the heavenly Father wants to open up for us.

The spring from which living water flows is considered a symbol of the knowledge of God. But we can never know God better than through love, which is his innermost being. “God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him” the Apostle John tells us in his letter (1. Jn 4,16). Read More

Preface:

To all those who follow us daily or occasionally with the meditations.

In the coming days until August 7, I will continue the reflections on the Father’s message that have accompanied us in 21 meditations during Lent until Palm Sunday. August 7th itself is for us – according to the will of our Heavenly Father – an internal celebration, which some other faithful have already included in their lives. The coming reflections are focused on the second part of the Father’s message and are intended to accompany this precious message. Read More

Mic 6,1-4.6-8

Now listen to what Yahweh says: ‘Stand up, state your case to the mountains and let the hills hear what you have to say!’ Listen, mountains, to the case as Yahweh puts it, give ear, you foundations of the earth, for Yahweh has a case against his people and he will argue it with Israel. My people, what have I done to you, how have I made you tired of me? Answer me! For I brought you up from Egypt, I ransomed you from the place of slave-labour and sent Moses, Aaron and Miriam to lead you. Read More

God’s strength

But you, controlling your strength, are mild in judgement, and govern us with great lenience, for you have only to will, and your power is there.

Wis 12,13.16-19

For there is no God, other than you, who cares for every one, to whom you have to prove that your sentences have been just. For your strength is the basis of your saving justice, and your sovereignty over all makes you lenient to all. You show your strength when people will not believe in your absolute power, and you confound any insolence in those who do know it. Read More

Mt 12,14-21

At this the Pharisees went out and began to plot against him, discussing how to destroy him. Jesus knew this and withdrew from the district. Many followed him and he cured them all but warned them not to make him known. This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: Look! My servant whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul delights, I will send my Spirit upon him, and he will present judgement to the nations; he will not brawl or cry out, his voice is not heard in the streets, he will not break the crushed reed, or snuff the faltering wick, until he has made judgement victorious; in him the nations will put their hope. About then, Hezekiah fell ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came and said to him, ‘Yahweh says this, “Put your affairs in order, for you are going to die, you will not live.” ‘Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and addressed this prayer to Yahweh, ‘Ah, Yahweh, remember, I beg you, that I have behaved faithfully and with sincerity of heart in your presence and done what you regard as right.’ And Hezekiah shed many tears. Jes 26,7-9.12.16-19

The path of the Upright One is honesty; you smooth the honest way of the upright. Following the path of your judgements, Yahweh, we set our hopes in you, your name, your memory are all our soul desires. At night my soul longs for you and my spirit within me seeks you out; for when your judgements appear on earth the inhabitants of the world learn what saving justice is. Yahweh, you will grant us peace, having completed all our undertakings for us. Read More

Jes 10, 5-7, 13-16

Woe to Assyria, rod of my anger, the club in their hands is my fury! I was sending him against a godless nation, commissioning him against the people who enraged me, to pillage and plunder at will and trample on them like the mud in the streets. But this was not his intention nor did his heart plan it so, for he dreamed of putting an end to them, of liquidating nations without number! For he thinks: ‘By the strength of my own arm I have done this and by my own wisdom: how intelligent I have been! Read More

Mt 11,20-24

Then he began to reproach the towns in which most of his miracles had been worked, because they refused to repent. ‘Alas for you, Chorazin! Alas for you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Still, I tell you that it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on Judgement Day than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, did you want to be raised as high as heaven? You shall be flung down to hell. For if the miracles done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have been standing yet. Still, I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on Judgement Day than for you.’ Read More
