“ANYONE WHO HAS SEEN ME HAS SEEN THE FATHER”

We cannot yet behold God face to face. The beatific vision is reserved for eternity and will be an endless joy. However, even before that, our Father makes Himself known in many ways and, in an unsurpassable manner, He manifests Himself in His own Son: “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father” (Jn 14:9).

When we listen to the word of Jesus and move it in our hearts like His Mother Mary (cf. Lk 2:19); when we sit at His feet like Mary, Martha’s sister (Lk 10:39); when we eat His Flesh and Blood in Holy Communion; when we follow the voice of the Spirit, sent by the Father and the Son, who reminds us of all that Jesus said and did (cf. Jn 14:26); when we put into practice the works of the Lord, then we meet God, our Father. Everything we do with our eyes fixed on Jesus grants us an intimate communion with our Creator.

Jesus loves and glorifies His Father in all that He does and says. The intimate communion with Jesus takes us into the Heart of the Father. There, in His Heart, is our true home. There we are loved with an unspeakable love. There the Father loves us as His own Son. There we have our common home together with all those who correspond to God’s love and listen to His Son.

Jesus ardently desires that, through Him and His coming into the world, we recognise the love of God. An unquenchable fire burns in His heart for us to know His Father and our Father as He truly is, joining then in the praise of His glory. There is no greater motivation in our Redeemer than to communicate the Father’s love to us.
