Father’s words taken from the Message to Mother Eugenia Ravasio:

“My dear children, I have lavished these gifts upon you with special graces for twenty centuries, but with what miserable results! How many of My creatures, who become children of My love through My Son, have quickly thrown themselves into the eternal abyss! Truly, they have not known My infinite goodness; I love you so very much (A favourite expression of Mother Eugenia, often repeated in the text) You, at least, who know that I Myself am coming to talk to you, to make you aware of My love, for your own sake, do not throw yourselves over the precipice. I am your Father! Is it possible that, having called Me your Father and having shown your love for Me, you could find in Me such a hard and insensitive heart as to let you perish? No, no, do not believe it! I am the best of Fathers! I know My creatures’ weaknesses! Come to Me, come with confidence and love! I will forgive you after you have repented. Even if your sins were as repulsive as mud, your confidence and your love will make Me forget them, so you will not be judged! I am just, it is true, but love pays for everything!

Listen, My children, let us make a comparison, and you will be assured of My love. For Me, your sins are like iron, and your acts of love like gold. If you gave Me a thousand pounds of iron, it would not be like giving Me just ten pounds of gold! In other words, with just a little love, great iniquities can be expiated”

I am aware that, in one way or another, we are all emotionally and mentally engaged in the current plague, which threatens to affect all countries. However, it would be good if not all our thoughts were to revolve around this situation; rather, we could also concentrate on the Lord.

Indeed, we are living through a plague with apocalyptic dimensions. That is why, time and again, I will have to theme it.

However, the focus of the daily meditations should be on spiritual matters, in which we receive the comfort of the Holy Spirit, which is always important, but more so than ever in such uncertain times as these, when all earthly securities are shaken and men are invited to place their hope in God alone.
The text we have heard today gives us all the reasons for doing so!

In the first place, the Father shows us that the response of men to His love is very poor, considering all that He has done and continues to do for us. Although it has been some decades since the Father gave this message, it probably wouldn’t change much what he would say in this time in this regard. And it is true!

Man is offered the most precious spiritual goods… and what does he do with them? Shouldn’t the fire that the Lord came to light on Earth (cf. Lk 12,49) already be burning? Couldn’t there already be true peace among men? But what do we see instead?

In the face of such a critical assessment, we should not make the mistake of blaming others. It is important that we see ourselves. How do I take advantage of God’s grace? Is it acting in my heart? Do I let myself be transformed into Christ to become a new man? There are enough reasons to evaluate ourselves! We should not be afraid of it. On the contrary, we must sincerely question ourselves, in order to better travel our path.

The words of the Lord are those of a loving Father, who knows very well that we do not yet really know His love. If we knew him, we would burn to announce and witness to the Father everywhere.

But, on the contrary, there are people who even run the risk of condemning themselves, of plunging into the abyss, as the message said.

This is what God wants to avoid, and he encourages us to always turn to him, no matter how horrible our sins are and how much evil we discover in our hearts. Although it hurts that we fall far behind what we could achieve with God’s grace, this is no reason to hide from Him. On the contrary! We must approach Him, also with the grace of a contrite heart. God not only wants to forgive us, but He is waiting for us so that He can show us His love.

Then, in what follows from the message, the Father again comes down to our way of thinking… Righteousness is irrevocable and is the foundation for a life in truth. But, as His words assure us, His mercy even surpasses justice. And the Father gives us an example that anyone can understand.

So, with a little love, enormous iniquities are rescued!

What an invitation for us men! None of us has to get lost; none of us has to rush into the abyss! Everyone can go to God, even if they have done terrible things!
That’s our Father! If only men understood that…
